Andrew Bolton, PE is a Senior Project Engineer with 13 years of experience providing geotechnical engineering services. He is skilled in developing geotechnical exploration scope of services, managing and performing geotechnical evaluations, and preparing earth retention system designs for numerous projects in Michigan. These projects include technical expertise in shallow and deep foundations, ground improvement methods, earth retention systems (ERS), slope stability, surcharge programs and other related geotechnical engineering concerns. Andy also serves as Team Leader for SME's Grand Rapids Geotechnical Senior Staff Engineers.

A licensed Professional Engineer in Michigan, Andy has BS and MS degrees in Civil Engineering. He graduated Magna Cum Laude while completing the Fundamentals of Professional Practice (FOPP) course of study conducted by ASFE. Andy has been active in the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) organization, serving on the local West Michigan Board of Directors for five years. He is also a member of the Michigan Society of Professional Engineers (MSPE) and the Structural Engineers Association of Michigan (SEAMi).

Andy has a skill for managing geotechnical engineering services on projects to provide value, reducing clients’ risk level during and post construction while meeting the project schedule and budget. Solving a client’s problems with innovative, efficient and effective designs and recommendations is Andy’s daily motivation.

In his spare time, Andy enjoys spending time with his family which includes his wife and three children, volunteering at his local church, and watching the Detroit Tigers.
