Anthony Jarem, PE provides geotechnical, pavement, and construction materials engineering consulting and project management with 33 years of experience. Anthony has expertise in shallow and deep foundations, earthwork, and construction materials including concrete and masonry construction. He has worked on projects in Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois and Michigan. He is a recognized expert in Full Depth Reclamation (FDR) and subgrade stabilization. Anthony’s true passion is providing engineering consulting services on difficult sites helping optimize foundation designs, solving difficult subgrade and earthwork problems, and solving construction material issues to help projects stay on time and on budget. He enjoys developing subgrade stabilization solutions using a variety of approaches ranging from mechanical to chemical stabilization. Pavement recycling is also one of his passions.

Anthony has BS degree in Civil Engineering from Cleveland State University and a MS degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Akron specializing in geotechnical and construction materials engineering. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Ohio. Anthony has been involved in the American Society of Civil Engineers and ACI since in college. He is an active member of the Asphalt Recycling and Reclamation Association FDR committee which recently prepared the second edition of the Basic Asphalt Recycling Manual (BARM). Anthony has made numerous FDR and subgrade stabilization presentations at events or by invitation that include the Ohio Transportation Engineering Conference, Purdue Road School, professional engineering societies in Ohio and Indiana, state and local governments, and engineering consulting firms. He also taught part-time at a community college.

In addition to his work at SME, Anthony likes working on construction projects for friends and family. He likes to spend time outdoors fishing, hunting, and occasionally playing a poor game of golf. He is an active member of his church working on special construction projects and fundraisers. He spends his free time enjoying activities with his wife and three daughters.
