Jayson W. Graves, PE is a Senior Project Engineer for SME’s Facilities and Infrastructure Services Group, specializing in design and construction. Jayson also serves as Team Leader for the Facilities and Infrastructure team in our Shelby Township office. His expertise includes construction engineering services and pavement design and evaluations for new and existing pavement structures. He conducts pavement distress surveys and develops feasible rehabilitation strategies for pavements. He has extensive experience in review and evaluation of existing utility infrastructure. Jayson prepares construction project plans and specifications for use in bidding pavement improvement projects, provides construction administrative services, and supervises construction testing services for site improvement and pavement projects). With 13 years of experience at SME, Jayson also performs geotechnical and pavement evaluations, and prepares reports for pavement and geotechnical projects.

Jayson enjoys working as a team with owners and contractors to get the job done. Bringing differing sides together to solve problems that evolve from design and construction can be very challenging and rewarding for all.

Jayson serves on the City of Rochester Hills Zoning and Sign Board of Appeals as well as the Public Safety and Infrastructure Technical Review Committee and the Green Space Advisory Board. He holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Lawrence Technological University and is a registered Professional Engineer in Michigan. He is a Certified Storm Water Operator, SESC Comprehensive for the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) Water Bureau.

Outside of work, Jayson enjoys volunteering for various church ministries and is an active member of the Knights of Columbus. He also enjoys spending time with his wife of 19 years, their teenage daughter and their pet dog, especially at the family’s cottage on the lake in northern Michigan.
