Keith B. Egan, CP provides senior technical consulting and project management expertise in the areas of brownfield redevelopment and financing, site investigation and remediation, environmental due diligence, environmental regulatory compliance, RCRA Corrective Action and environmental chemistry. He is an expert in risk-based, cost-effective approaches to brownfield redevelopment and environmental response actions, and identification and acquisition of financial incentives for brownfield redevelopments. His range of expertise also covers environmental site investigations and development of remediation alternatives for industrial and commercial facilities, UST sites, Superfund and RCRA Corrective Action facilities. During his career, Keith has obtained approximately $10 million in Clean Ohio Revitalization Fund (CORF) and Clean Ohio Assistance Fund (COAF) grants for redevelopment projects, and has successfully prepared a U.S. EPA Brownfield Pilot Project grant application.

With SME since 2010, Keith has 41 years of experience in environmental evaluations and consulting, including 17 years of experience with the Ohio Voluntary Action Program. A testament to Keith’s love for his work that presents ever changing challenges on how to best address environmental contamination and cost effectively eliminate the threat to the satisfaction of all stake holders, he has served as Certified Professional (CP) or principal author for 17 No Further Action (NFA) letters for redevelopment projects that received Covenant Not to Sue (CNS) Status. SME is proud of Keith’s management of the remediation and redevelopment of a former RCRA TSD facility that won the 2013 Brownfield Renewal Magazine award for project of the year under the environmental impact category.

An important impact for Keith in his work is to provide defensible, scientifically risk-based, sound solutions that “turn a sow’s ear into a silk purse”. Keith is proficient at getting to the heart of a client’s problem and reducing environmental risk without remediation.

When Keith takes a break from his work, he likes to read, especially histories and biographies, likes to hike, cook, and is an avid downhill skier.
