Construction Materials Services
Kevin Barton has more than 12 years of experience and serves as Team Leader and Project Manager for construction materials services (CMS) projects. He monitors our field staff’s on-site activities, reviews reports and letters for content and compliance with project requirements, and prepares and controls project budgets. Kevin also provides consultation and engineering evaluations of problems encountered during construction.

Kevin successfully manages numerous projects and staff, often-times under hectic and demanding conditions. Solving problems for SME’s clients and knowing that he is providing value to their projects, keeps him driven. Some of Kevin’s projects include the construction of the 8-story Munger Hall Graduate Residence at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor; the design and construction of the new roofing system for several buildings in the Waterford School District in Waterford, Michigan as well as several U.S. Postal Service facilities in Michigan and Indiana; and CMS services for Michigan International Speedway infield media suites in Brooklyn, Michigan, University of Michigan West Quad, and University of Michigan Taubman in Ann Arbor Michigan. Kevin is a problem solver, and helping SME’s clients resolve issues related to project sites and subgrade conditions and foundation construction issues is something he’s known for. He takes pride knowing that his efforts directly influence the success and quality of a completed project.

Kevin has a BS degree in Civil Engineering from Michigan State University and an MS degree in Civil Engineering from Wayne State University. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Michigan, a Level 2 Unbonded Post-Tensioning Inspector, and a Structural Masonry Special Inspector through the International Code Council (ICC). He is certified in nuclear density meter operation and the MUST Safety Program.

Outside the office, Kevin enjoys spending time outdoors on the golf course or playing soccer. He also enjoys following Detroit sports teams and the football and basketball teams from his alma mater, MSU.
