Matthew A. Vander Eide, P.G., CPG
Senior Project Geologist
Environmental Services
Matthew A. Vander Eide, PG, CPG provides project management and consulting services in the areas of environmental site investigations, assessment and remediation of contaminated sites, environmental due diligence, landfill design and monitoring, geophysical surveys, and stormwater management. His 20 years of experience in these areas includes public and private sector clients and a wide variety of projects ranging from limited site assessments to multi-million dollar remediation projects. Matt is a Licensed Professional Geologist and an Environmental Professional, as defined in the US EPA All Appropriate Inquiry regulations. He holds a BS degree in Hydrogeology from Western Michigan University, where he concentrated his graduate studies on hydrogeology and geophysics.

Matt enjoys working with clients as a partner to develop pragmatic, cost-effective solutions to their environmental concerns. He finds one of the most exciting parts of his work is being part of community-based teams that revitalize long-term brownfield properties into new, vibrant residential and/or commercial resources for the community. While Matt has conducted numerous site assessments, much of his experience has involved remediation projects that require design and implementation of phased site investigations, and processing and interpretation of large, complex datasets. He has developed a knack for effectively working with local, regional, and national clients to manage environmental programs at multiple sites and evaluate short-term and long-term planning considerations.

Matt feels that one problem he is best at solving for his clients is simplifying and presenting complicated environmental issues in a manner that allows clients to understand applicable regulatory considerations, and identifying and evaluating options to manage or mitigate risk.

Matt is affiliated with the Indiana Board of Licensure for Professional Geologists and the American Institute of Professional Geologists.

Away from his work environment, Matt enjoys spending time camping, hiking, or going to the beach with his wife and four children. He also enjoys playing tennis and listening to music. Matt has served as guest speaker at local schools to discuss geology, the interaction of geology and chemistry, and careers in geology. He also volunteers with the Boy Scouts of America and the West Michigan Environmental Action Council.
