Nicholas R. Jablonski, PE, NACE CIP is primarily responsible for providing field review and services related to engineered materials and construction. His services are concentrated within SME’s Steel | Coatings | NDT (SCN) Services Team, which is part of our Facilities and Infrastructure Group. He provides operational coordination as Team Leader for SME's SCN Staff Specialists, as well as provides consultation services for our client’s projects. Nick has specialized experience in coating system selection and evaluation, including condition assessments, product selection, specification development, field audits and quality assurance (QA) monitoring during coating applications. He also provides materials consulting services and evaluations related to the fabrication and erection of structural steel systems, building enclosure systems, foundations, reinforcing steel, masonry and concrete. Nick's experience includes field construction observation of shallow and deep foundations, and the evaluation of subgrade soil conditions and their suitability for support of slabs, pavements and foundations.

Nick is driven by knowing that each day may bring the opportunity to lend a helping hand. He has a knack for verifying what the client is truly asking for, confirming a requested scope of services and allocating the appropriate staff and equipment to effectively take care of the client’s needs. This often leads to cost-effective resolutions and satisfied clients. Nick takes pride in knowing that his contribution and involvement in projects result in successful completion of the work. He feels blessed to be part of an effective team that faces challenges head-on, takes care of client’s needs, and provides true value to the project and the surrounding community.

He was pleased and honored to finish first in his ASFE FOPP class. Nick is a NACE Detroit Chapter Active Member and an AGC Michigan Guest Speaker. A registered Professional Engineer in Michigan, he has received multiple SME Client Delight Awards. Nick graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Civil Engineering from Michigan Technological University, and an Associate degree in Science and Arts from Northwestern Michigan College.

Outside the office, Nick enjoys spending quality time with his spouse, family and friends. He likes to attend festivals and events, and keeps active bike riding, kayaking and golfing. He is a fan of the Detroit Tigers, Lions and Red Wings. Nick’s compassionate nature and commitment to the community show as he regularly volunteers at Gleaners Food Bank and Habitat for Humanity.
