Sean M. Smith, PE provides management and technical direction for the Indianapolis regional team as Regional Office Manager. He has over 20 years of experience of applying principles of soil mechanics and rock mechanics for the design of earthworks and structure foundations, assessing risks posed by and evaluation of both natural and man-made soil deposits, along with construction monitoring of problematic soils and development of remedial solutions. His experience also includes the supervision and performance evaluation of construction materials through both field and laboratory testing analysis. Sean’s focused capabilities lie in shallow and deep foundation design, pavement evaluation and design, dam and levee evaluation and design, ground improvement techniques and grade separation structures design.

Sean is a registered Professional Engineer in the following states: Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, South Carolina, and Texas. He holds a BS degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Trine University.

Sean is a member of the National Council of Examiners for Engineering & Surveying (NCEES), American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Association of State Dam Safety Officials (ASDSO), and American Concrete Institute (ACI). He is a Trine University Industrial Advisory Board Member and Order of Engineer.

Outside of work, Sean enjoys spending time with his wife and children. He has an interest in history, and enjoys running and biking.
