Soil and Materials Engineers, Inc. is pleased to announce the addition of Keith B. Egan, CP as Senior Consultant to our brownfield redevelopment team. Keith has 33 years of environmental experience, including 13 years experience with the Ohio Voluntary Action Program (VAP). Through the VAP program, he has served as the Certified Professional (CP) or principal author for 15 No Further Action (NFA) letters for redevelopment projects that received Covenant Not to Sue status. He has also successfully prepared a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Brownfield Pilot Project, and Clean Ohio Revitalization Fund (CORF) and Clean Ohio Assistance Fund (COAF) grant applications. Keith specializes in brownfield redevelopment, Superfund projects, RCRA corrective action and closures, site investigation and remediation, environmental due diligence, environmental regulatory compliance, and environmental chemistry.
Keith will be responsible for senior technical consulting/project management and helping SME clients with their redevelopment and brownfield challenges. His success with Clean Ohio Funds in Ohio is a great match to SME’s extensive experience with U.S. EPA brownfield grants/loans. The result will be a win-win for Ohio communities and developers.
SME’s integrated brownfield redevelopment approach for communities and developers includes securing and managing state/federal brownfield grants and loans, environmental due diligence, constructability evaluations and planning, environmental exposure mitigation planning and implementation, environmental cleanup design/management, geotechnical and pavement engineering to address site conditions and constructability issues, and quality control testing and environmental management during construction.
At sites where building rehabilitation is involved, SME also helps owners/developers reduce uncertainty and costs by providing hazardous materials assessments, abatement design and monitoring; building condition assessments; energy efficiency studies; and programs for building restoration and renewal.
