NOTRE DAME CLUB OF DETROIT HONORS GERALD M. BELIAN, PE

The Notre Dame Club of Detroit recently honored Gerald M. Belian PE as the Club's 2010 Award of the Year recipient. Jerry, a former President of the Notre Dame Club of Detroit, was recognized for his outstanding contributions, and long-time service and dedication to the Club. 

Jerry graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1963 with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. He joined the Notre Dame Club in the early 1990’s and has served on the Board of Directors since 1996. During this time, he served in a variety of leadership positions including Secretary, President-Elect, President and Past-President. He became involved in the Hesburgh Lecture Series in 1997 and chaired the event for 10 years.  He supports and attends the Carey Memorial Golf Outings and co-chaired the event last year.
 
Jerry serves as Vice President/Principal at Soil and Materials Engineers, Inc. (SME) where he is involved with senior project management and business development for development and redevelopment projects. With over 40 years of experience, he helps clients at every stage of development and ownership, from site acquisition, design and construction, to maintenance, restoration and redevelopment.
 
He serves on Detroit Cristo Rey High School President's Leadership Council and is actively involved with other organizations, including the Engineering Society of Detroit, Michigan and National Societies of Professional Engineers, the American Society of Civil Engineers Southeastern Michigan Branch, the American Institute of Architects/Michigan, and the Association of General Contractors/Michigan.
