Location: Indianapolis, Indiana

SME is seeking a regular, full-time Technician to join our Environmental Services group in our Indianapolis, Indiana office.

Responsibilities include:
• Conducting hazardous materials surveys of buildings;
• Collecting samples of suspect asbestos containing building materials;
• Collecting soil samples;
• Developing groundwater wells;
• Collecting groundwater samples;
• Assisting other SME Service areas (Construction Materials, Geotechnical, Pavement and Materials Services groups) with various field work; and
• Conducting office work related to the above field activities such as evaluating analytical data to generate tables, figures, and reports.

Requirements for this position include:
• A high school diploma;
• Certified Asbestos Inspector License;
• Previous experience with asbestos and/or HAZMAT assessments, working with abatement contractors and subcontractors, and Phase II/groundwater sampling;
• Mechanically inclined;
• Excellent communication, report writing and customer relations skills;
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team;
• Demonstrated ability to adapt to new challenges and learn new concepts;
• A willingness to work hard in an efficient and organized manner;
• A clean driving record and experience driving in the U.S.;
• The ability to lift 50+ pounds, stand for long periods of time, work from heights and in tight spaces, and work in inclement weather;
• Willingness to travel to cover out-of-town overnight projects;
• Ability to work overtime, including weekends, on an as-needed basis.
