BRADFORD L. EWART, PE JOINS SME TEAM AS LANSING REGIONAL MANAGER

Lansing, Mich., – SME, a professional consulting firm for the geosciences, materials and the environment, announced Bradford L. Ewart, PE has joined the firm as a regional manager for the Lansing, Mich. office. The announcement was made by Vice President/Principal Tim Mitchell, PE.

As regional manager Ewart will be responsible for promoting SME’s core values and operations within the Lansing region, identifying potential clients, and facilitating business relationships. Along with management duties, Ewart will be a geotechnical senior project engineer performing geotechnical engineering evaluations and providing geotechnical consult. Ewart’s geotechnical engineering experience includes evaluations for the commercial, industrial, governmental and power market sectors. These evaluations have included shallow foundation recommendations, deep foundation design, auger cast pile instrumented load testing, soil remediation, and surcharge recommendations and monitoring.

“Brad will be a managerial asset to our Lansing office with invaluable geotechnical expertise,” said Mitchell. “He will not only be crucial to our clients, but also to the development of our SME Lansing team.”

Though born and raised in the Lansing area, Ewart previously worked for Patriot Engineering and Environmental, Inc. as a regional manager for northern Indiana, northwest Ohio and Michigan and was based in Fort Wayne, Ind. Coming in as manager at the firm, the region he represented was in a state of economic distress. After five years under Ewart’s leadership, the region had the most profitable year to date.

Ewart serves as past section secretary at the Indiana Section American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), past president of the Northeast Indiana ASCE Branch, and past young professional’s forum committee member of the Fort Wayne Building Contractors Association. He has also served as the junior varsity head baseball coach at Homestead High School for Southwest Allen County Schools in Indiana. 

Ewart received his Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from Tri-State University with a minor in environmental engineering.
