2nd Flattest Floor Ever Recorded in the World - B541 Warehouse Wins Golden Trowel Award!

SME teamed with Christman Contructors, Inc. and The Austin Company to earn a Golden Trowel Award for the B541 Warehouse Expansion project. Now in their third decade, The Golden Trowels recognize the world's flattest floors and are the most prestigious and sought-after awards in the concrete flooring industry.

The B541 Warehouse project was recognized for setting "two world records in Fmin Longitudinal Flatness and Fmin Transverse Flatness." SME's team, including Jonathan Camburn PE, Timothy J. Flanders, and Jeremy Hugo PE, provided Fmin testing services on this project. Not only did the project set two world records, but it is now on the books as the second flattest floor ever recorded! Having such a level and flat floor at the warehouse is crucial to the functionality of the semi-automated lift trucks that operate at a fast pace, grabbing from racks 65 feet in height.

The Golden Trowel Awards were presented at the World of Concrete in Las Vegas on Thursday, January 25, 2018. The conference is the largest annual international event dedicated to concrete and masonry professionals. SME's Tim Flanders was on-hand to accept the prestigious award.
