1st Annual Racer's Edge Award Goes to Ashley Capital and Team

SME was recognized at the National Brownfields Conference on December 6, 2017 for being part of the project team on the former Delco Spring & Bumper Plant site in Livonia, Michigan. Ashley Capital earned the first annual RACER's Edge Award granted by The RACER Trust in recognition of their success in redeveloping a former General Motors industrial property. The property sat vacant for nearly twenty years before Ashley Capital invested in it's redevelopment. The site has been redeveloped into a 1-million-square-foot Amazon regional fulfillment center and a 500,000-square foot warehouse and office complex for Republic National Distributing Company. The redevelopment represents a total investment of more than $125 million and more than 1,500 jobs.

RACER (Revitalizing Auto Communities Environmental Response) Trust was created to clean up and position for redevelopment properties and other facilities owned by the former General Motors Corp. before its 2009 bankruptcy. RACER is one of the largest holders of industrial property in the United States and is the largest environmental response and remediation trust in U.S. history.
