SME ADDS TALENT TO INDIANAPOLIS TEAM

Indianapolis, IN - SME, a professional consulting firm for the geosciences, materials and the environment, announced several key team member additions to the firm.  Robert Walker, LPG joins the firm as Senior Consultant, Beth Grigsby, LPG, joins the firm as Senior Project Consultant, and Jason Cheney, CHMM joins the firm as Project Consultant. The announcement was made by SME President and CEO Mark K. Kramer, PE. Each brings experience that will help SME flourish in providing practical solutions for its clients.

Walker has more than 25 years of experience overseeing environmental projects throughout Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio. He develops, manages and implements corrective action plans for Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) hazardous waste unit closures and PCB site remediation. He also manages and directs activities at facilities associated with Voluntary Corrective Action Agreements between clients and the U.S. EPA. As a Senior Consultant, Walker will design and implement environmental response action plans. He will serve as an integral part of the firm’s Environmental Services group and will assist with the acquisition and management of U.S. EPA Brownfield Grants.

Grigsby
joins the firm as Senior Project Consultant in the Environmental Services Group. She has more than 25 years of experience providing environmental technical assistance to local government agencies, non-profits and private stakeholders with specialization in the acquisition, disposition and redevelopment of contaminated properties. Grigsby is tasked with expanding SME’s EPA Grant and Brownfield Redevelopment Programs and is responsible for assisting EPA grant communities in Indiana, southern Ohio, Illinois and Kentucky. She works closely with grant communities to secure funding sources, perform grant support services, conduct community outreach, and work as a liaison between communities and project managers. She is an active member of Indiana Geologists; Indiana Association of Regional Councils; Indiana Economic Development Association; Association for Redevelopment Initiatives; and Funders Team for the American Council of Engineering Companies.

Cheney has more than 16 years of experience providing due diligence services including Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), Phase II investigations, regulatory compliance consulting, UST removal consulting, industrial hygiene surveys, and hazardous materials abatement management. As a Project Consultant and Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) with SME, Cheney will manage a variety of projects. He is a licensed Asbestos Inspector and has developed a thorough knowledge of standards of practice, regulatory policy, and environmental regulations. Cheney serves as a Board Member of the Indiana Alliance of Hazardous Materials Professionals (INAHMP) and is a member of Theta Tau National Professional Engineering Fraternity.
