SME REALIGNS SERVICE GROUPS INTO BUSINESS UNITS & APPOINTS BUSINESS UNIT LEADERS

With a sharp focus on providing exceptional service, SME announced the restructuring of its core service groups into Business Units that better align with client needs. The announcement was made by SME President and CEO Mark K. Kramer, PE.

The change has brought new services to the forefront and re-focused others, and has also resulted in the appointment of key team members to Business Unit Leader positions.

SME’s new Business Units are: Construction Materials Services, Environmental Services, Geotechnical Services, and Facility and Infrastructure.

Dave J. Hurlburt, PE, was appointed as Business Unit Leader for Construction Materials Services. He has more than 32 years of civil engineering experience and has managed more than 2,800 geotechnical site evaluations and CMS projects. Under his direction, this Business Unit provides material testing and engineering services for construction and infrastructure projects assisting our clients with the quality and the long-term performance they expect from their investments.

Daniel R. Cassidy, CPG was appointed as Business Unit Leader for Environmental Services. Dan leads the team in helping SME’s clients address environmental challenges of acquiring and developing/redeveloping properties and old brownfields, investigating and remediating contaminated sites, evaluating and managing regulatory compliance, and assisting with water resources and water supply issues. Dan has 19 years of environmental consulting experience and is known for successfully leading brownfield redevelopment projects from initial site selection stage through completion and thrives on the positive impact they bring to the community and environment.

Timothy H. Bedenis, PE was appointed as Business Unit Leader for Geotechnical Services. With over 32 years of experience behind him, Tim leads the team as they focus on helping the firm’s clients understand complex subsurface soil and groundwater conditions at their project sites. SME’s geotechnical expertise helps establish a project’s viability, anticipate and resolve construction problems, and generate significant savings on site development, foundation and earth retention related construction costs.

Chuck A. Gemayel, PE was appointed as Business Unit Leader for Facility and Infrastructure Services. Since joining SME in 1987, Chuck held positions of increasing responsibility and was also recently named Director of Group Operations. He is known for his expertise in pavement design, management and evaluation, as well as his commitment to top-notch service delivery. Chuck leads the Facilities and Infrastructure Services team in providing expert pavement, building materials and steel and coating services to the firm’s clients.
