Since 1964, SME has grown steadily based on founder Ken Kramer’s philosophy: surround ourselves with a great team of smart people who have a passion for solving problems, and then work together to take care of our clients.   • Satisfy the client first, and everything else will take care of itself. Ask our project managers what makes them good at their jobs, and they'll answer, "I'm a client advocate." Putting clients’ needs first and foremost is a sure path to project success.
  • Don’t give clients a different name or face every time they call. A lot of firms churn through people and projects. Not SME. We put a premium on one-on-one relationships. Team members follow clients throughout the course of their careers, resulting in a better understanding of the client's goals and projects. Our goal is to gain clients’ confidence and keep them for life.
  • Give clients practical, cost-saving solutions, not textbook answers. Quality counts, and our solutions are designed to serve clients over the long haul. At the same time, we know dollars matter too. Solutions can’t be outside the realm of feasibility. That's why when a project is challenging — a brownfield development, a bridge embankment, a building restoration, a deteriorating roadway — clients call SME first.
