Kirt Andersen, PE is a Senior Consultant for SME’s Pavement / Design team, which is part of our Facilities and Infrastructure Services Group. He has more than 25 years of civil engineering experience that began as a Construction Surveyor for the US Army Reserve while he was pursuing his BS degree in Civil Engineering from Lawrence Technological University. His expertise includes the design of preliminary site planning to final detailed engineering and construction plans of the infrastructure to support project development. Kirt is passionate about establishing strong client relationships and taking a proactive management approach to work on their behalf.

Kirt supervises, conducts and reviews design evaluations, and implements management systems. He prepares scopes of service and fee estimates, formulates evaluation plans, and prepares schematic design and budgets. Kirt is known for providing professional engineering services in relation to site civil design, permitting and land entitlement. He has experience working with the local, county and state agencies including the Department of Transportation (DOT) for various states, as well as the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ). His engineering and development experience includes projects for a wide variety of client sectors including: power and energy, higher education, industrial and commercial, land development, manufacturing, residential and transportation. Kirt is a registered Professional Engineer in Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, and Florida.

Outside the office, Kirt enjoys travel and sports including hockey, football, baseball, motocross, fishing and golf.
