Employee Spotlight: Hayder Al-Hilal

Employee Spotlight: Hayder Al-Hilal

Passionate People Building and Revitalizing Our World. This is who we are. SME's Employee Spotlights provide a glimpse into the passions that drive our team members to build a better world.

Why did you choose this profession?
In 1991, when I was 13 years old, infrastructures in my home town (Najaf, Iraq) were attacked by the Iraqi regime and the US. Bridges were attacked by US missiles and the golden dome of the holy shrines were attacked by the regime missiles. Growing up with these images in mind, I always wanted to be an engineer so I could fix those beautiful bridges and golden domes.

What projects are you most proud of?

I am most proud of the Meadow Brook Hall Bridge project and the Detroit Observatory Dome project. I feel good about the fact that I was able to accomplish my dream I had when I was 13 years old.

What motivates you to come to work?

To help out clients in understanding their pain and solving their problems.
