The Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe (SCIT) retained SME to investigate and evaluate the existing pavements and infrastructure at the Soaring Eagle Casino and Hotel, where major upgrades were needed to the deteriorated pavements and outdated site features. Our services included an evaluation of existing conditions and preparation of construction documents.

SME performed an extensive site assessment, which included evaluating various site features such as the site’s pavement, drainage, signage, light poles, and landscaping.

SME’s civil design services focused heavily on the redesign and improvement of the pavements and storm sewer system, proposing new pavement design and storm piping across three locations at the casino and resort.
SME’s project team included landscape architects, electrical engineers and other specialty contractors to complete this complex project in accordance with SCIT standards and requirements. SME also had a large presence during the construction phase of the project, providing construction administration and materials testing services.

SME observed daily construction operations, working with site contractors to ensure material installations meet site specifications and quality standards.
