Lou Northouse, PE is a Regional Vice President who manages SME’s Greater Michigan Region along with Indiana and Kentucky. He  coordinates a diverse team of engineers and technicians to oversee consulting services related to geotechnical engineering, building materials, and construction materials testing services. Lou began his career with SME more than 20 years ago as a field engineer. Since then, he has progressed in responsibility and began managing projects. His technical, administrative, and budgetary management expertise has been utilized on more than 1,500 projects in West Michigan. He is knowledgeable of Special Inspections and Michigan Building Code requirements, is skilled at estimating project scopes and budgets, and is well-known for communicating with clients throughout the course of their projects. Lou strives to efficiently provide answers to questions and project related issues, utilizing the knowledge of other SME professionals when needed to keep projects on schedule and within budget. Lou Northouse is a Licensed Professional Engineer in Michigan and holds a BS degree in Civil Engineering from Michigan Technological University.
